RIVERSIDE, CA — September 5, 2013 — The Riverside Transit Agency (RTA) has won a national award for its Zhappo Studios designed 2012 Annual Report.

The American Public Transportation Association (APTA) announced this week that RTA earned a first-place AdWheel Award for its 24-page report that featured the Agency's accomplishments during Fiscal Year 2012.

The 2012 Annual Report highlighted significant events during a busy 12-month period that included a 35-year anniversary celebration, historic highs in ridership, the creation of an ambitious travel training program for senior and disabled customers, the successful passing of a major financial audit, renewed partnerships with area colleges to give students unlimited bus rides, and the acquisition of much-needed federal funding to buy the Agency's next fleet of heavy duty, compressed natural gas vehicles.

"This is a big deal to be recognized, especially on a national level," said RTA Chairman of the Board Marion Ashley. "This award reflects our desire to provide world-class service to our customers, and remain competitive and progressive in the way we do business."

APTA's AdWheel Awards are presented in five main media categories: print, electronic, campaigns, social media and special events. RTA's annual report will now compete against the first-place winners in other categories for the grand prize. The winner will be announced at APTA's 2013 annual meeting in Chicago on September 30.

This isn't the first time RTA has been recognized for its annual report: Its 2007 annual report earned two national awards, and its 2009 annual report took home a first-place APTA award.

RTA provided copies of the 2012 Annual Report to city officials, regional and state lawmakers, chambers of commerce, schools, members of congress, libraries, media outlets, and other Southern California and national transit agencies.
